Westerly Centaur Purchased as a Part Exchange for Dufour

The Buy Any Boat team have recently purchased a lovely Westerly Centaur which we took in part exchange for a Dufour Yacht we had in. It was clear the Dufour needed some work to the engine. So to be offered such a nice Westerly as part of the deal was too good to turn down.

Our aim at Buy Any Boat is to buy boats that we can then sell on. We make trade offers for the boats that we are offered. Because of this model we can’t always offer what you think the boat might be worth. Part Exchanging items is always something we would consider. It doesn’t have to be another boat. The team will consider cars, watches, iPad’s or anything we can easily find a resale value for.

Westerly yachts are always extremely popular boats. They are spacious, well laid out and built with a strong GRP hull. When our friends at Boatbreakers have had to scrap the odd abandoned Centaur you can soon see the thickness of the hull.

This Westerly Centaur that we received in part exchange is one of the nicest we have ever owned. The Yanmar engine is in perfect working order after being well maintained and used regularly. Her former owner had even replaced the mast sails and rigging with new.

When the Centaur is sold the next owner will get a fantastic boat. Interestingly we have been offered other boats in part exchange for her already. It can be interesting to see the chain of vessels we end up owning when we accept part ex for boats we sell.

The only problem with part exchanging your yacht as part of a deal can be the storage. We are always trying to keep boats coming and going to keep our storage space free. So to sell one boat but to get one in part exchange makes this slightly harder to achieve. If a boat can sit happily on a trailer this is less of a problem for the team.

So, if you see a boat that our team have bought and now have for sale. Why not consider offering us a part exchange deal. It saves you ending up with two boats or needing to sell your other boat first. Remember we will consider part ex with any items that we can easily get a value for.
