Q: How much will you pay me for my boat?

We will make trade offers for Boats. If you sell to us you won’t make as much money as you would selling privately or through a broker. But the advantage of selling to us is that you will get a quick deal and quick cash. A trade offer can usually be anywhere between 40% to 60% of the boat’s market value. But every boat is different, so this isn’t a standard across all boats. If we think we can sell your boat quickly we may offer you a price closer to the market value.

Q: Why might you decline my boat?

We never like turning down boats. We understand that you come to us because you may want a quick sale or may be fed up with the broker trying to sell your boat. Our team will always do our best to make an offer for your boat. We must carefully consider what boats we buy as we are not a large multinational company with unlimited storage space. Or unlimited funds for that matter! When we buy boats we can only offer a trade price. This is because we intend to buy your boat and then try and sell it on to make a profit. We made no effort to hide our intentions as that is simply the way the business works. Sometimes we may think your boat just won’t offer us a return. We have to factor in more than a private buyer would. As all of the transport costs and possible repairs we will need to do will eat away at any margin. Rather than making silly low offers for boats we will often tell Boat Owner to list the boat for sale on an auction website. There are other reasons we may turn down your boat. We may deem it to be end of life so will be more suited to our Boatbreakers solution . Or the boats may need costly repairs or new parts that we simply don’t want to get involved with.

Q: Do you really buy any boat?

Yes, we will buy any boat from anywhere in the UK, Ireland and Europe. However, we can’t buy every boat! Some boats may just not be worth making an offer on and we will tell you the truth when you send us the boat details. We also know that some boats that are end of use are just not worth buying as they would cost to scrap.

Q: Can I sell a boat on behalf of a company?

Yes, but we’ll need to see your ID, a letter of authorisation signed by your company director and the company’s bank account details e.g. a paying in book or bank statement, as well as the documents for the boat.

Q: Can I sell a deceased relative’s yacht or motorboat?

Yes. We appreciate that you’re bound to be going through a difficult time and the last thing you need is more stress. If you have a vessel to sell, we’ll do our best to make it as simple as possible. To sell the boat you need to have power of attorney or probate (an instruction in the will to say that the boat has been passed to you). Legally, you’ll also need to have your relative’s death certificate with you, as well as your ID and the documents for the boat.

Q: Can I sell a boat on behalf of a family member or a friend?

Yes you can, but your family member or friend needs to know about it! You’ll need to have your relative’s or friend’s ID with you and written confirmation from them stating they’re happy for their boat to be sold. You’ll also need two forms of your own ID, as well as the documents for the boat. The money will be paid into your relative or friend’s bank account, so the bank account details must match those on their ID.
